Keeping the community fed
More and more of our residents are in need of food and other essential supplies as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
As a result, we have added some additional functionality that will hopefully make it easier for people to either get food delivered to them, if they can't leave the house, or to find their nearest food bank.
Food and essentials delivery businesses
We have encouraged local businesses that are now delivering food and essential supplies to complete an online form. This information has been delivered in a similar way, allowing users to see potential businesses they can order from.
Visitors to our website can filter by ward areas within the borough, as well as the products they’re looking for (milk, meat, fruit and veg, etc.) using our map and search and filter functionality.
Food bank map
The disruption caused by Coronavirus has led to many people unfortunately losing their jobs. In some extreme cases, this has pushed people below the poverty line and many may have to use a food bank for the first time as they fall into the ‘vulnerable’ category.
With this in mind, we’ve created an easy to use map showing the location of various food banks throughout the borough. Users can then find their closest bank, get directions using Google Maps, and hopefully access the supplies they desperately need.
